ezboard members:
We are pleased to report that we have made significant progress toward resolving all major issues related to the collocation facility move. This was accomplished with your help and a very dedicated ezboard staff. The Help Forums and all help facilities are back online and responding to user questions. System emails are being delivered, Chat services have been restarted, and local account creation is once again enabled. In fact, as a direct result of the data center move, overall ezboard network speed has been significantly increased. Even with this success and our approaching 100% of systems in operation there remain a few items to fix.
We are currently working to resolve four high priority issues:
- Home Page Login and go.ezboard.com . We have redirected the link for login on our home page, and it is operating. We have also made DNS changes for go.ezboard.com so that our users who link to board with go.ezboard.com will be able to use these links once again. The DNS change will take 24-48 hours to be effective everywhere on the Web.
- A small number of boards are offline. We have a very few instances of boards that cannot be accessed, and we are working with the administrators and users on a case-by-case basis to resolve outstanding issues.
- Boards created on 4/29, 4/30 and 5/1 have operating issues . Boards created on these dates are reporting issues related to managing them. We are working with admins on a case-by-case basis, as well as trying to determine the central issues involved.
- DNS for AOL users . In researching reports from AOL users, we discovered that AOL is caching DNS for a period of 7 days. This means that links will not update for a period of 7 days from our submission of new DNS information. AOL users should expect their links to resolve over the next 1 to 6 days. We are in the process of contacting AOL to determine if this process can be accelerated.
We are diligently following up on these issues and closely monitoring the help queues to ensure that all problems are resolved as rapidly as possible.
We sincerely appreciate your patience through this difficult period. To compensate for the problems our users have experienced, we will be extending 10 days of subscription service credit to every Gold Community on the network. We hope that this will, in part, make amends for the past week and show our commitment to our users and communities.
Sincerely,
Robert Labatt
