Custom Signature
A custom signature is one of the many tools used to express your unique identity on the communities you visit. After you create a custom signature, you can display it at the end of each post you make. Make it as simple or as complex as you’d like, from just one line of text to vivid imagery showing off your artistic talents. Related topics include Personal Photo and Personal Icon.
Key Information
- Only ezSupporters can use HTML in their Custom Signature. Both ezSupporters and Free Users are allowed ezcodes. If you would like more than text in your Custom Signature please click the highlighted link for information on how to use HTML or ezCodes
- All users have the convenience of a Formatting Tool available when they create their ezcode custom signature. You do not need to know ezcodes to create an original Custom Signature with this tool. ezSupporters have the added benefit of an HTML formatting tool.
- Unclosed tables or other HTML or ezCode tags in a Custom Signature can ruin an entire page of posts. Make sure to close all tags and try to avoid using tables in your signature to prevent disrupting a community.
- Not all communities allow custom signatures – they are permitted at the admins discretion.
How to Use Custom Signatures
User: How to create your Custom Signature
Your custom signature may be displayed at the end of every post. You can use HTML (ezSupporter) or ezcodes (ezSupporter and Free Users) to include an image, bold text, colors, etc. (up to 2000 characters). The examples below are in ezcodes.
Note: If you wish to make a carriage return, use the ezcode tag [br]. If including an image, please make sure they are small in size.
- Log in to your Control Center and click on the Account Preferences link.
- You are now in a new screen. Scroll down to the area that says Custom Signature. You can now begin adding your Custom Signature code. If you want to use an image, you can type the exact URL to your image in the field. If you prefer to display your name, a quote or some text as your signature, type it in the given field.
Note: To begin a new line, use the [br] tag
- For help creating an ezcode signature click on the Launch Tool link next to the ezcode radio button. With the Formatting Tool you can create a flawless custom signature with ease. ezSupporters have the option to launch the HTML formatting tool when creating HTML signatures.
- To link a button (we recommend 88x31 pixels and less than 8k), use a code similar to the following:
[link=www.ezboard.com][image]http://www.ezboard.com/image/csc_goldcommunity.gif[/image][/link]What does that mean? The [link] is the ezcode used to create a link to your site. The [image] is the ezcode to grab your image from your site, and the by placing [image] within the [link] tag your graphic will be clickable to your site.
Feel free to copy and paste the example given in these tutorials and edit the URL to your site's address.
What if I just want my name and no image, just some text?
Go ahead and look at the example below.
My name here[br]Hello everyone![br]I LOVE using ezboard =)
What does that mean? Well just type as you would normally but think of the [br] tag as your enter key. When you want something to appear on a new line, type [br] where you want the new line to begin. You may use the example above to copy and paste your message. Just change the text to what you would like to say. Remember the [br] tags cause a line break.
For example if you typed:
My name is whatever and I am glad to see all of you.
That would show up on one line.
If you use:
My name is Oprah[br]and I am glad to see all of you.
That would show up like this.
My name is Oprah
and I am glad to see all of you.
