Replies to Topics
Generally speaking, you will want to have the Allow Replies to Topics box checked in your different forums. However, for forums that deal with announcements or other types of information, you can use this handy feature to automatically disallow replies to topics without having to close each one separately.
Key Information
- You can use this as a security feature or a moderation feature. If you would like to close your community temporarily you can disallow replies to topics.
- It works well in "Announcement" forums where only the Admin needs to post.
- Showing the number of replies to a topic is helpful to show how popular a topic is to your users.

How to turn on/off Replies to Topics
- Log in and go to your Control Center.
- Click on the My Community tab and manage the correct community.
- Scroll down to the Forum Specific Administration section of the My Community tab and select the forum you wish to change. Now, click on the Security Settings button.
- Click the box next to, Allow Replies to Topics to turn on or off this feature. Most forums will have this checked.

By turning on this feature you will allow all users to see the number of replies to any given topic. For long topics, you can augment this feature by turning on the Page Number Links in Topic Listing function.
- Log in to your Control Center and click the My Community tab.
- Manage the community you would like to change.
- Scroll down to the Forum Specific Administration section of the tab and select the forum you wish to change.
- Click the Security Settings button.
- On the next page scroll down to the header Show Topic Views and place a check in the box to the left of the header.
- Click on the Save Changes button.
