ezOp Transfer FAQ

ezOp transfer is an irreversible process and we advise that you read through this FAQ carefully before proceeding. If you have any further questions about ezOp transfer, ezboard staff will be happy to answer them in the support forums or by opening a support client ticket.



What is an ezOp?

An ezOp is the owner of a particular community. When a community is first started, the user who creates the community is the ezOp. The ezOp is one step above an administrator and retains ultimate control over their community. The ezOp is also the user who receives the complimentary ezSupporter account with a Gold Community subscription. Only the ezOp can transfer ownership.

Why would I transfer ezOp powers?

If you no longer want to be responsible for your community and another user would like to take over ownership for you. This feature makes it a safe and simple process.

What happens when I transfer ezOp powers?

You give an admin at your community the ownership status that you previously held. This means that you lose all powers specific to the ezOp such as having ultimate authority over your community and making Gold purchases (if you have it set that way).

Will I lose my ezSupporter status?

Yes you will – the new ezOp will gain ezSupporter status on their account and you will lose it on yours. This is non-negotiable. If you ezOp another Gold Community you will also lose ezSupporter upon the transfer. You can regain ezSupporter by managing the Gold Community you still ezOp in your Control Center. Please be aware that losing ezSupporter also means you will lose account customization, inbox messages and custom folders, and any linked accounts. We advise that you save any account customizations before making the transfer.

Will I still have admin powers at my community?

Yes, you will remain an admin after the transfer. However, the new ezOp can decide to remove this status from you. We will not give admin powers back to you if this happens.

Can I get my ezOp powers back after I make the transfer?

Only if the new ezOp gives it back to you. If you make the decision to change ezOp status – ezboard will not give it back to you. Only the new ezOp has the power to transfer ownership.

How can I change the ezOp of my community?

First, make sure that the user you are transferring status to is already an admin at your community – you may only transfer ownsership to a current admin. Next, go to the ‘My Community’ tab in your Control Center and manage the community you would like to transfer ownership. Then click the Security Settings button. At the top of that page, click on the Transfer ezOP (Ownership) link, select the admin to transfer ezOp status to, read and agree to the disclaimer, enter your password, and click the green Do it! button.
