Emoticons

Emoticons represent the facial expressions, emotions, moods, or gestures that cannot be conveyed with plain text. Adding emoticons to your post will complement your text with fun and colorful graphics. If you're interested in displaying custom emoticons on your community, look no further than a Gold Community subscription to receive this feature.

Key Information

  • Emoticons are allowed only at the admins discretion.
  • Emoticons can be inserted into any post or reply with the click of your mouse no keystrokes are needed.

User: How to use emoticons in your posts

  1. Add or reply to a post.
  2. Emoticons are displayed in the area to the right of the posting field - click on the desired emoticon to insert it into the post. The "Show"/"Hide" radio buttons will either display or hide emoticons available for one click insertion.
  3. If there is a link titled Complete List there are additional emoticons available for use that are not shown in the posting interface. Clicking the link will display all available emoticons. Copy and paste the text equivalent of the desired emoticon into your post.Click on the desired emoticon to insert it into the post.

Admin: How to allow emoticons in your community

  1. Log in to your Control Center and click on the My Community tab and manage the correct community.
  2. Scroll down to the Forum Specific Administration section of the My Community tab and select the forum you wish to change.
  3. Select the forum to allow Emoticons and then click on the Security Settings button.
  4. Under the Basic Member Privileges header, check the box next to Allow Emoticons In Posts.
  5. Click on the Save Changes button.
