Personal Icon

A personal icon is a 10x10 pixel image that allows you to represent your online identity. Once you’ve uploaded yours, it will be seen next to your user name in any post you make. Related topics include Custom Signature and Personal Photo.

Key Information

  • Not all communities allow personal icons; they are permitted at the admins discretion.
  • The image you use needs to be uploaded to the Internet and have a URL.

User: How to add a Personal Icon

  1. Log in to your Control Center if you have not yet done so.
  2. In the My Account tab, click on the Account Preferences link.
  3. Go to the area that says Posting and Messaging. If you have an icon on your web server that you would like to use, type the "exact" URL to that image. After you have typed the link for your icon, check the box that says Use Personal Icon URL. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Save Changes button.

Note: Personal Icons MUST BE 10x10 pixels or they may NOT work.

Admin: How to allow Personal Icons

You can allow Personal Icons on a per forum basis.

  1. Log in to your Control Center and click on the My Community tab.
  2. Select the community you wish to change and click on the Manage button.
  3. Scroll down the page, select a forum, and click on the Security Settings button.
  4. To disallow the use of personal icons in the forum, uncheck this box, Allow Personal Icons.
  5. Click on the Save Changes box.
